Saint Tail Thefts:
A brief description ‘by episode’ of the TV series.
1. We are introduced to the principle characters: Haneoka Meimi, who becomes Saint Tail by night, her nun-in-training friend Mimiori Seira, and the son of a local detective, Asuka Daiki, known as Asuka Jr.
We come into the action as Saint Tail is stealing a picture that the current owner bemoans as having taken a great deal of time to swindle from its previous owner. Saint Tail escapes with the picture as Asuka Jr. tells her to warn him of her next theft so that he can be there to catch her, thereby establishing the theme of the series. Asuka Jr. is awarded a badge by the mayor which allows him to enter and investigate at will.
2. In a vast display of balloons Meimi warns Asuka Jr., before the entire school, that she will be taking a crown, called Electra, from it’s recent buyer. Asuka Jr. is thought to be in league with Saint Tail, but is able to prove his innocents, though unable to catch Saint Tail. While making good her escape Saint Tail cuts her face, and the next day at school Meimi appears before a surprised Asuka Jr. who notices the bandage but can’t believe that Meimi could be Saint Tail.
Special: Episodes one and two were shown together the night Saint Tail first aired Oct. 12, 1995. A special, super deformed, extra was also included. This summary appears at the end of episode two.
3. Introducing Ruby. While in town Meimi meets a hedgehog at a pet store. Meanwhile a man who is the co-owner of a diamond called the Polar Tear buys the hedgehog. Later Saint Tail finds that the hedgehog has been fed the diamond in order to hide it from the other owner. Saint Tail manages to get the hedgehog, gives the diamond back to Asuka Jr., and adopts the hedgehog, giving it the name Ruby.
4. A fellow student at school is made aware of her arranged marriage and Saint Tail steals the wedding veil, returning it to the senders, thereby ending the engagement.
5. A child’s doll, while attached to balloons, becomes caught on a statute that is part of a clock. Saint Tail recovers it, thereby exposing an art smuggling ring.
6. Introducing Rina. A new girl in town has singled out Asuka Jr. to be the object of her desires and comes along with him while trying the catch Saint Tail, who is removing a painting, Cherry Blossoms, from a local museum. Saint Tail returns it to the original owner.
7. Rina and Asuka Jr. plan to capture Saint Tail when she tries to steal an ancient Egyptian knife. Using tear gas Rina manages to lock Asuka Jr. and Saint Tail in a room together. Saint Tail escapes, with the knife.
8. A fan steals a famous baseball pitcher’s glove, causing him to fall into a slump. Asuka Jr. tries to hide the glove at the ‘Salad Bowl’ stadium but Saint Tail is there to steal it, exposing the fan as the real thief.
9. A wedding dress design contestant has her design stolen by a rival. Seira poses as Meimi, while Saint tail recovers the dress and design. Full description
10. An appraiser keeps an heirloom that was given to them to appraise. Rina, in an attempt to catch Saint Tail, posses as a wounded Asuka Jr. but Saint Tail gets away with the jewel.
11. Introducing Sawatari. Just before the summer festival at school a compromising picture is taken by Sawatari of a girl who wants it back before her boyfriend learns of it. Saint Tail gets the film, but Sawatari swears revenge.
12. In an attempt to win a girl’s affection a young boy steals her pet lizard. Saint Tail manages to steal it. She floats it, dressed as Santa, back to its owner.
13. A magic mirror, said to reveal a persons true self, is stole and placed on auction. Saint Tail steals it, but not before looking at herself in it, and being seen by Asuka Jr. He is in denial for the remainder of the series.
14. A young man, who has bicycled across Japan, has his bike stolen by a spoiled rich kid. Saint Tail steals it back, returning it to him, as he is about to leave the country.
15. In a local park a dog, named Little, has been stealing items, including a stuffed raccoon. The toy is identical to the ones being by a gem smuggling ring. Saint Tail recovers the toy, and exposes the ring.
16. A couple, separated by circumstances, are reunited by Saint Tail, who exposes a rare animal smuggling ring at the same time.
17. A fellow student, who is a model, believes, mistakenly, that Saint Tail is coming to steal his heart. She is actually after a notebook full of poems about the model. Asuka Jr. is concerned that Saint Tail likes the model, but is relieved by her explanation about the notebook.
18. A stolen sculpture turns up and the artist tries to get it back, with no success. Saint Tail tries to steal it, and is saved from electrocution by Asuka Jr. She does manage to steal it on her second attempt, and exposes the art thieves at the same time.
19. A comet that comes once every 50 years is coming and a group of children are told they can come to the local observatory to see the event, but then are told they can’t. Saint Tail manages to scare the observatory’s employees away long enough for the children to see the comet.
20. A scientist claims to have found an extinct bird’s egg, and is afraid of being exposed, so Saint Tail steals the egg. It is later proven to be genuine.
21. A fellow student has entered into a music contest, playing a harmonica that is given to a shop for repairs, and not returned. Saint tail returns the instrument in time for the contest and exposes the shop owner as the true thief.
22. A boy in town fakes a picture of a UFO for attention, only to have it stolen by a local museum. Saint Tail steals the picture and returns it to the boy.
23. The first of two fake challenges. A brother and sister create a perfume, and in an attempt to boost sales the brother fakes its theft. Saint Tail exposes the fake… nothing is really stolen.
24. A family is forced to move from their house and the daughter leaves a jewlery box behind. Saint Tail recovers the box and returns it to the girl.
25. Second fake challenge
26. A woman has a cameo necklace taken by her employer. The son of the woman who took the necklace thinks he is in love with Meimi, until he sees Saint Tail come for the necklace. He transfers his attentions to Saint Tail just as easily. Saint Tail replaces the real necklace with a fake and returns the real one to its true owner.
27. An idol has a locket, containing a picture of herself and her secret boyfriend, stolen and it is being used for blackmail. Saint Tail recovers the locket, though is almost caught herself. Asuka Jr. only lets her go when the idol screams that Saint Tail is innocent.
28-29. Rina accuses Asuka Jr. of letting Saint Tail go and Asuka Jr. is taken off the case. In an attempt to prove himself he tries once again to catch Saint Tail while she is trying to steal a crystal swan. The couple wind up together in a dark room where Asuka Jr. promises to not arrest her, this time. Together they retrieve the statue and restore Asuka Jr.’s reputation.
30. Sawatari takes a picture of Meimi holding Ruby, and Asuka Jr. recognizes Ruby from the Polar Tear episode. When he confronts Meimi Seira comes to her aid and says the hedgehog is a stuffed toy. Saint Tail is needed to retrieve a music box from a tree inside a toy store and Seira posses as Saint Tail, while Meimi, also as Saint Tail, gets the box.
31. This episode opens with a flash back to the theft of a cursed jewel. The original thief, now much older, is trying to steal the jewel to return it to its own, thereby ending the curse.St Tail aids him and he carries out his plan.
32. Two track friends are separated by their coach as he tries to promote one of them while keeping the other from racing. By stealing the girl’s sneakers he hope to dishearten her but Saint Tail recovers the sneakers and ultimately the girls make up.
33. An heirloom sword is stolen from a dojo by a thief called the Monkey, working for a rival school. Saint Tail is able to recover the sword and save the school.
34. A rich girls pet horse is taken as compensation for a ruined horse and Saint Tail steals the horse back for her.
35. A forester works to save the life a dying tree, only to have it sold to an exotic plant dealer. Saint Tail steals it back, and exposes the ring.
36. In an attempt to rise some money two brothers steal a pair of rare butterflies from the area where the butterflies were discovered. Saint Tail manages to recover them from their hiding place in the bottom of a pool and sets them free.
37. A woman detective from America returns to her home to try and clear her missing parents name. She plans her revenge, only to have Saint Tail beat her to the painting in question. Saint Tail exposes the fraud, but not before the woman guesses Saint Tail's identity.
38. An elderly woman seeks to have a missing emerald returned
to her before her returning husband discovers it's missing. Saint Tail
recovers
the jewel and leads the police to a jewel smuggling ring.
39. A young boy's friend, a white dolphin, is taken to an aquarium whe the dolphin becomes to sickly to prove that he deserves to be free. Saint Tail is able to convince the dolphin that it is once again in the ocean, helping it to recover and gain its freedom.
40. This episode begins the final arc ("The Sins of the Mother".) Here we learn of Kaitou Lucifer (Haneoka Eimi) and how she stole, and returned, many things in the past. However the "Star Rudy" was stolen from her and wasn't returned. Saint Tail recovers the jewel and finishes what her mother couldn't
41. A gold staute of Mary is stolen by Maju in an attempt to flush out Saint Tail. The ruse works and Saint Tail is forced to reveal her true identity. Using her magic Saint Tail escapes, with the statue.
42. Once again Maju draws Saint Tail out, only this time Asuka Jr. is an unwilling witness to Saint Tail's exposure. While Saint Tail does manage to escape with the stolen items she is unaware of Asuka Jr.'s plight.
43. Saint Tail challenges Rosemary for the return of Asuka Jr.!
