A Rival Appears! Transfer student Lina.
Object stolen: Painting- "Cherry Blossoms"
We open on the school playing field where Meimi and Sister Seira are sitting on a bench. Meimi questions Seira about "Cherry Blossoms" and Seira has to explain to her that it's English for sakura. Meimi is suitably embarrassed. Seira goes on to say that the painting is at the Center Museum, at which point Meimi remembers it and says she longs to see it, just once. Seira says she wants Saint Tail to steal, no, return it to its rightful owner. It seems the picture was to be lent to the museum, but after the contract had been signed it actually gave ownership of the painting to the museum. The owner, and elderly man, had come to the chapel to pray for the paintings return. Meimi is out raged. Seira says the painting is on display at the museum, at which point Meimi assures her that she has heard enough, Saint Tail is engaged.
Next we see Asuka Jr.'s two friends at the local arcade. One of them wonders where Asuka Jr. is, and we see him deeply involved in a game. As someone pauses to give him advice he glances away from the scene long enough to break his concentration. The game goes from bad to worse, until the girl who wanted to help, pushes him out of the way, taking over the game. She quickly loses. Asuka Jr. is desolate, the girl is unconcerned. He questions her, but she isn't listening, her attention is on the game screen where we find a challenge from Saint Tail.
"Tomorrow night, I'll take the Cherry Blossom from the Crown Center Museum." The girl asks Asuka Jr. what this means and he looks at her askance, wondering if she's new in town. She says he's being rude and that yes she is new. As she says this is stands up and we can see that she is a lot taller than Asuka Jr. He mentally measures the distance and quickly leaves. She follows.
As he is running away Asuka Jr. is think about plans to capture Saint Tail, only to find the girl keeping stride with him. Quickening his pace he tries to out strip her, only to end up panting at the beach while she chides him for being out of shape. Next she questions him about Saint Tail, and he is reluctant to give her any information until she gets him in a half Nelson.
Asuka Jr. then explains to her that Saint Tail is a local thief, which interests the girl exceeding. After a moments thought she announces that she's decided. She then asks where the Center Museum is, and Asuka Jr. tells her at which point her whole personality changes and she becomes very friendly, apologizes for being so rough and says her name is Takamiya Lina and that she's also 14. She then runs off. Asuka Jr. is left to puzzle over women.
At Meimi's home we can here her mother calling her for dinner. When she attempts to steal a piece of salad her mother catches her and tells her to go collect her father. Meimi sneaks up on the poor man, scaring a year off his life. We can see that he is working with Tarot cards and he says he wants to start working them into his magic act. Meimi is all excited and asks him to do a reading for her. (Dad mixes the cards like a little kid.) Doing a 7 card spread he turns over: The Chariot (R); the Star; Justice (R); the Wheel of Fortune; the Sun; the Moon; the Tower. Upon exposing this last card dad frowns, as well he should! J Meimi questions him, but then mom arrives and yells that them for being late to dinner. Dad lingers long enough for mom to ask him what's wrong and he says that there appears to be trouble in Meimi's future. Mom laughs and says Meimi is too happy to keep down.
Back in her room Meimi is met but Ruby who want to be taken along... but settles for a kiss.
At the chapel Meimi transforms into Saint Tail. She's full of energy, but Seira has a bad feeling about the coming events. She feels as if something has begun. Saint Tail tells her to not worry. With God's protection she can do anything!
Eye Catch
At the museum we see Asuka Jr. deploying his men and warning them to not let anyone who looks suspicious get away. Instantly Lina is brought to him, escorted by an officer. Lina is as surprised to see him as he her. She can hardly believe that he, a grade schooler, is in charge. He yells that they are the same age, which seems to surprise her. An officer suggests to Asuka Jr. that Lina might be Saint Tail, seeing as she's a girl after all, and two policemen grab her, only to be shot to the moon by Lina's punch. She then says she'll watch from this point. Asuka Jr. is not happy with this and produces his mayoral badge. Hoping to scare Lina away. Lina haughtily inform he that she is the mayor's niece. Asuka Jr. is dumbfounded. Lina says her family has donated a lot of paintings to the museum and that he should do his best to guard them.Saint Tail then arrives.
While inside the museum we see Lina admiring the Cherry Blossom while Asuka Jr. paces up and down before it. Lina yells at him for pacing, and the lights of out. Asuka Jr. knows right away the cause and calls for backup lighting. In that instance Lina screams, the Cherry Blossoms are gone. Glancing down Asuka Jr. sees a pile of sakura petal... they make a trail down the hall. Lina says she's going after Saint Tail, even though Asuka Jr. tells her it's a ruse. Lina goes regardless. Asuka Jr. paces and frets before the missing picture frame until the two officers with him speculate that Lina has probably caught Saint Tail already. With a howl Asuka Jr. goes after the petal trail as well.
Swinging down from above we see Saint tail. She's disappointed in Asuka Jr., and points out that he had been doing so well. She also wonders who Lina is.
Producing a single cloth, which she shows us both sides of, Saint Tail flings it over the frame, conjures her wand, and in a poof of smoke... nothing happens. Mugging for the camera she reaches into the corner of the frame and peels off a bit of paper that is the exact color of the surrounding walls. She actually hadn't stolen the painting yet.
Lina, running down the hall is thinking that she is going to be the one to catch Saint Tail. The petals end at a door, which Lina opens, allowing Asuka Jr. and the trailing officers to all run into... the broom closet. Lina asks him what he is doing in the closet and chides him for always falling for Saint Tail's tricks. They bioth then notice that the petals continue down the left-hand hall. As they run Lina says that her family actually hasn't donated painting to this museum and Asuka Jr. is shocked that she would lie about something like that, as a life of crime begins with lies.
They emerge from the museum to find the building surrounded by blooming cheery trees. An officer points to Saint Tail who is sitting on top of a public sculpture. Saint Tail says she's done what she came to do, and displays the painting. Lina rushes forward, calling for Saint Tail to halt, and Asuka Jr. stops her. Lina says she is going to be a police officer some day and that she will catch Saint Tail. Asuka Jr shoots back that he will be the one to do that and a fight breaks out between them. Saint Tail smiles indulgently and conjures a cherry blossom storm. Below her the assembled people scream in the wind.
Lina falls to her knees and Asuka Jr., ever the gentleman, places himself before her, thereby blocking her from the maelstrom. Lina clutches his jacket shyly and thanks him. Upon witnessing this Saint Tail's eyes go blank in horror. With a frown she disappears into the swirling pink petals. Asuka Jr. moves to chase her, only to fall flat on his face owing to Lina still holding his jacket. Blushing she drops it and apologizes. But then she begins yelling at Asuka Jr. for allowing a mere girl to get the better of him and declairs that she would have caught her if it had not been for his interference.
At the home of the elderly man we see him reading alone when a full moons light suddenly brightens his backyard, displaying blooming cherry trees, and his picture hanging on one of the trees. Amid a shower of petals he clasps his hands together and thanks God.
The next morning we see Meimi entering the school where Sister approaches her, asking Meimi to take a new transfer student under her wing. Meimi readily agrees, only to find it's none other than Lina. Meimi is frankly, dumbstruck and Lina says as much. Meimi is able to recover herself, but then Lina asks if Asuka Jr. is in this school. Meimi is shocked...
