Item stolen: 'Electra' a jeweled crown
The scene opens with Asuka Jr. walking home when he is joined by two of his friends. They ask him about the badge from the mayor and how he was asked to help in the investigation. (Meimi, within earshot, listens annoyed.) The young men go on about the case and how Asuka Jr. 'protected' the gems from Saint Tail. Asuka Jr. coolly agrees. (Meimi looks incensed.) One of the men asks if Saint Tail didn't get away, and Asuka Jr. says that's why he's been asked to help, as he's considered to be an expert on Saint Tail. (Meimi is really getting angry.) Asuka Jr. produces the detective's badge for inspection, calling it the proof of his knowledge. With it, he says, he can go anywhere freely. Does his father know about this he's asked? He says, of course, and that his father told him to do his best. One of the young men then asks if this isn’t Saint Tail's first failure, and Asuka Jr. takes credit for thwarting her plans. This is more than Meimi can stand and she yells, from the cover of the trees, that she didn't fail. Puzzled the young men look around, and wonder what that was. While Seira, with her hand over Meimi's mouth, drags her friend towards the chapel.
As Seira dresses Meimi vows to never let that jerk Asuka Jr. catch Saint Tail, for which Seira praises her for being so confident. Seira then hands Meimi a photograph of a crown. Seira calls it the next job and says it is know as Electra, one of the seven stars in the constellation Pleiades. A man names Egami managed to swindle it from its owner. Seira thinks Saint Tail should return it to its proper owner. Meimi interrupts her and asks if she was listening? Asuka Jr. now has a badge and the ability to go anywhere. Seira says that is Meimi is to scared of Asuka Jr. then this conversation didn't happen but Meimi's temper flares and she says she'll so the job while Seira mugs happily for us. Meimi thinks that she is not at all scared of that would-be detective.
The next morning we see Meimi's mother Eimi as she's cleaning up. Here eyes fall on the open newspaper where there is a picture of Saint Tail. Eimi thinks she's great, just like Eimi was when she was young. Suddenly Meimi's father appears, looking for his balloons. He asks Eimi about them, but she has no idea either, she tells him to keep looking and reminds him of the time he lost his shoes for two weeks.
At school it is now lunchtime and we see Asuka Jr. with his friends, eating lunch. One of them excitedly points into the schoolyard where a huge red balloon is rising. On it is the following message: "Tonight I will come to take Electra. Saint Tail."
Everyone is amazed, except for Seira who is shaking with rage while a smiling Meimi eats her lunch.
However, after school, the whole school, and the town as well, are talking about the challenge and speculation begins as to whether or not Saint Tail and Asuka Jr. aren't working together.
News reaches Egami who is thinking of the best way to protect his crown. A butler arrives and tell him of the rumor at Saint Tail and Asuka Jr. are in cahoots, just as Asuka Jr. arrives. Egami demands to know who Asuka Jr. is and Asuka Jr. explains his position and produces the badge. Egami pretends to warm to him, saying that he had been expecting Asuka Jr. and that he doesn't believe the rumors that are going around. He concludes that he has every confidence in Asuka Jr.'s abilities. Asuka Jr. wonders what rumors, and Egami tells him about what is being said, but that he doesn't believe any of it. Asuka Jr. is shocked that people would think such a thing and mutters to himself as the butler returns to say the preparations are done. Egami is thinking that the rumors are true and that he'll be able to have Saint Tail and Asuka Jr. assested. Asuka Jr. then asks where the Electra is and is told that it is on the hands of the clock in the clock tower across the lawn. Egami says it is on the short hand. (Mind you the clock tower has a clock on all four sides!)
Over a the chapel Meimi is also surprised to learn that the crown is on the short hand of the clock, but Seira says hse thinks that is not the case, but that the crown is on the long hand. Meimi asks who she's come by this information but Seira ignores the question says that Egami is trying to trap Asuka Jr. Meimi is shocked!
Eye Catch
Seira explains that there is a rumor about them both and that Egami isn't giving Asuka Jr. real information so as to trap him and Saint Tail. Meimi thinks this is terrible and Seira says it's owing ot the challenge. Meimi feels bad about it but Seira points out that if Saint Tail steals it from its real hiding place Asuka Jr. will be proven innocent. And as she goes to leave Saint Tail tells Seira that she is not doing this for his sake! Seira unconvincingly agrees.
At the clock tower Asuka Jr. sits waiting, wrapped in a blanket. Egami arrives and asks him if he is going to wait all night and Asuka Jr. says he won't have too, that Saint Tail will come at 6 o'clock as that is the only time the short hand is close enough to reach. Egami seems happy with this and leaves, thinking to himself that Asuka Jr. is an idiot for thinking Electra is on the short hand, and that at 6 o'clock he'll make a fool of both Saint Tail and Asuka Jr.
Saint Tail arrives and notices there are no police, turning she makes her way to the clock tower.
In the house the butler arrives with tea only to catch sight of Saint Tail climbing the tower. Running to Egami he informs him of her arrival. Egami can hardly believe it and goes running for the tower.
Asuka Jr. rises as the clock begins to strike the hour and throws off the blanket calling for Saint Tail to appear. From above she calls down to him, thanking him for waiting for her. He wonders what she is doing up there and she explains that Electra was really on the long hand. Asuka Jr. is totally puzzled. Holding Electra to where he can see it Saint Tail does a pirouette and slips it on her head.
Egami arrives and together he and Asuka Jr. begin to climb to where Saint Tail is. As they run Asuka Jr. asks him why he was given wrong information but Egami tells him to shut up. Climbing over peaks Asuka Jr. stands just below her and says there is nowhere left for her to run.
Conjuring her wand and hat Saint Tail declares...
It's Showtime!
From the hat issues forth a huge red balloon, like the one from the challenge Asuka Jr. notices, and Saint Tail begins to rise into the sky. Egami arrives just them and leaps towards her, catching a leg. Sqaint Tail manages to shake him off, but at the expence of several balloons and she drifts back to the tower, cutting her face on the way. Egami produces a knife and yells that she won't escape. Asuka Jr. sees this and rushes the man, knowing the fall would be fatal to the little thief. Egami manages to roughly knock Asuka Jr. away and as he falls the badge comes loose from his pocket. Egami runs to where he can see Saint Tail and as his hand goes back for the throw the mayor's badge hits his hand, causing him to drop the knife.
Incensed he rounds to the prown Asuka Jr. intent on making him pay, when Saint Tail conjures her hat again. With a word she sends a flock of pigeons out of the hat and after the man, who falls under their attack.
As she rises once again Asuka Jr. yells after her that he wasn't helping her and that she should send him a challenge next time. He says it again, and yells, "Are you listening?"
Saint Tail looks back at him and thinks it more fun with him around.
The next day at school Seira tells Meimi that the owner of Electra was happy to have it back, when Meimi catches sight of Asuka Jr. reading the paper. She excuses herself to Seira.
Below Asuka Jr. still can't believe that Egami lied to him as his friends appear and congratulate him on making the newspaper yet again. One asks him, "Did you catch the thief?" to which Asuka Jr. replies, "Yes, but Saint Tail got away." (Which thief were we talking about? ^_^) They then leave him.
Meimi calls down to him and says she's glad the rumors were cleared. He thanks her and turns back to his paper, but Meimi accuses him of not getting along with Saint Tail as she got away again. He demands to know what she means by 'again', and notices the bandaid on her face. Rising he thinks how careless of her, even as she turns to go, but then he thinks, it can't be Meimi.
Extra Feature:
The Big Sweet Potato ChaseWe see Meimi and Seira sitting near the chapel as the autumn leaves fall all around. Seira tries to get a response from Meimi, but Meimi is engrossed in her manga and asks Seira to be quiet as this is the best part. Seira says she should be reading something better than a manga, indicating her bible, but Meimi is lost in the romance. She sighs and says she wants a romance like the ones in the mangas, but Seira points out that she already has someone passionately chasing her. Just then the sounds of a sweet potato vender can be heard and both girls stomach growl. Each accuses the other but then they both agree that fall is the time for eating!
Seria says she'll leave it to Miemi, who sputters, why should she have to do it?! Seira says because she's a sister she has to act like one. Meimi says fine, then she won't buy Seira one. Seira says she can't buy one, but she can share with her friend!
Muttering to herself Meimi hides behind a tree, awaiting the arrival of the vender and just as she steps out from behind the tree Asuka Jr. arrives and asks her what she is doing. Meimi is embarrassed and asks him the same question. What else? Looking for information to catch Saint Tail. Meimi looks smug and says he'll never catch her. Flustered he produces the badge and tells her to not interfere, but Meimi says no one is impressed anymore by him waving the badge around.
Just then the venders song can be heard over the fighting and Meimi remembers why she's there, turning she yells for the vender to wait, and then clamps her hands over her mouth, embarrassed again.
Asuka Jr. says it's no wonder she was acting so strangely. She wanted sweet potatoes. Meimi, near tears, turns to him and says go ahead and laugh. Smiling he chides her and says he likes sweet potatoes too, taking the wind out of Meimi's sails. He then offers her a ride on his bike saying they can still catch him and off they go.
But once on the long downhill they vender turns and the bike is going to fast for them to turn safely. Just then the sounds of a police car can be heard and the officer in the car, Asuka Heiji, tells the two of them to pull over. He then reads them the riot act which sounds like, "Yum yum yum yum yum...etc."
Walking along the bay the two are quiet for a moment and then Meimi apologizes for getting him in trouble. He says not to worry, he's used to it. He then apologizes for them not getting the sweet potatoes and Meimi admits she had forgotten. They both laugh... as the vender goes by! With a cry they take off after him.
Back at the chapel Seira's stomach growls yet again and Seira wonders where Meimi could have gotten to.
