Kaitou Saint Tail - Aug. 1996 Comic Fans, Chapter 5 (St. Tail manga
volume 2, Chapter 1"St. Tail's First Date"
"My name is Haneoka Meimi, fourteen years old." A picture of Meimi near the top half of the page in her school uniform, holding her cap with her right hand, with a close-up of her face at the bottom. "I like cute and interesting things, like to eat sweet foods, wish to meet a handsome boy... I'm a normal girl. But... at night..."
At St. Paulia Academy...
"Good morning!" Meimi called out to her friends as she arrived at the school. "Good morning! Meimi!" Kyoko answered. "Did you see today's newspaper?" Ryoko flipped to a page and read, "Kaitou St. Tail appears!"
"Um... because of St. Tail's cleverness, the jewelers' scam was discovered and they were arrested, the newspaper says," Kyoko said. Ryoko and Kyoko clasped their hands together, with stars in their eyes, "How incredible! A ysterious, secretive Kaitou for justice!" Ryoko exclaimed. "And she's a ponytailed beauty!" Kyoko added. Side note:
That's what everybody says.
Seira giggled, and Meimi turned to her with an annoyed look, "What...? Seira." A miniature side note: Why are you laughing?
"No- nothing." Seira answered. Meimi narrates- 'She's Mimori Seira, even though she's unsympathetic, but is a very loyal strange friend. She says she wants to become a nun.'
"St. Tail's real identity is still a mystery," Ryoko reads. Kyoko turned towards Asuka Jr. "Then that means... Asuka Jr.!
This time you still couldn't catch her! Great...!" They all laughed.
"ANIMAL!! I'M TOO EMBARRASSED TO LIVE ON! Everyone is protecting the thief!" Asuka Jr. screamed as he tried to jump out of a window, while his friends were holding him back and saying things like, "Wahh...! Don't! Don't do this!!"
Meimi narrates again as the boys drag Asuka away from the window- 'This guy's Asuka Jr., real name is Asuka Daiki.
The son of a police officer, his wish is to be a detective, even with that, he's still first in the whole grade. (Like on exams and stuff) The mayor personally asked him to catch Kaitou St. Tail. He tries very hard to catch her, but...'
"I almost caught her," Asuka Jr. moaned with a river of tears running down his face (very funny!!), "My reasoning is perfect."
"But you haven't trained for strength endurance!" One of Asuka's friends pointed out while Asuka Jr. went and sat down in the corner facing a wall. (Baka this isn't a preschool with time-outs :P)
"Who cares about that nut, come look at this!" One of the girls called. " 'Right now the very popular amusement park, the one everyone's talking about, "Wonder Garden"!' "
A girl with hair tied up in short ponytails (I think it's Sachiko, I'll just use that name for now) said, "Ah! This amusement park, I went there!"
"Eh? Sachiko?" Ryoko said. The three girls gathered around Sachiko, hands clasped together with stars in their eyes,
"Who did you go with!?"
"Actually..." Sachiko held up a photo of her and a boy at the amusement park.
"Ah...! He's from C class!!" The others gushed over the photo, "When did he...!?"
"He asked me to go!" Sachiko smiled, "That place is very big, very fun. And the flowers there are so pretty! But," she pointed at the picture in the newspaper, "The most important thing about this amusement park is in here. Wonder Garden's electric clock! The dolls move, and it's very pretty."
Meimi held her hands together in a praying position and thought, 'Wow! I like amusement parks too...'
Sachiko continued on, "I heard they hired a famous foreign dollmaker to work on the clock, even one doll from the clock is worth a lot." she laughed, "This electric clock... has a "If couples look at it together then they will have happiness" fortune!"
"Then you looked at it!? Both of you!?" The other girls asked.
'Ah...' Meimi thought to herself.
Sachiko nodded, and the three girls went, "That's...... too... wonderful...!"
"I'm so jealous of Sachiko," Meimi said, "I never tried going out on a date..."
Seira grinned, "Who do you want to go out on a date with? Meimi."
Kyoko said, "Would it be Asuka Jr. ...?"
'!!' Meimi thought to herself with a sweatdrop on her head. "Don't say silly things!! You don't even need to say that! WHO would go out on a date with a useless detective!?" she pointed at Asuka with her other hand clenched.
Asuka Jr. quickly turned his head at her, "Who's useless! Eh eh!?"
"If you're mad then go catch St. Tail! Stupid detective!!" Meimi shouted at him.
"Listen! Even if I catch her, I wouldn't tell you!!" Asuka screamed back.
"You don't need to! So what?! It's not like you're trying to catch a rare bug!" Meimi yelled even louder. (^^;;;)
Ryoko pointed at the cloud of Meimi and Asuka Jr. beating up each other, "Shouldn't we tell them that the sister teacher is here? Seira."
Seira clasped her hands together with a lil' cross beside her, "No, this is all of God's intentions." While there were shouts of "How dare you hit me...!" and "So what if I do!?"
After school, outside St. Paulia Academy...Seira's walking to the church when she sees a woman and kid talking, "Oh, why don't we just give up?" the woman sighed.
"What's wrong?" Seira asked, "If you have any problems, please come in..."
The woman looked up, "Ah... you are...?"
"I'm a student here! After school I work as a apprentice sister." Seira showed them into the church, "If you don't mind, just tell me! Even though I don't know if I can help you." Side note: Heh... "Please come in! I'll go change my clothes right away."
Seira, dressed in her nun uniform, finally came out, "Sorry you two had to wait so long..."
"Sister, um, you must think of a way to get back a doll!" The little girl blurted out.
"Hey! How can you just ask something like that right away?" The woman said.
Seira knelt down in front of the girl, "It's okay, what happened?"
The girl looked at Seira, "My cousin, she went to my house to play last time, and I borrowed her doll!"
"We promised her next time we see her we'd give it back to her..." the woman continued, "She didn't really want to lend it to us. We took that doll with us to an amusement park... and I wasn't paying attention..."
"I tied a balloon to the doll, and it flew away." The little girl said, "It flew very high to the roof and got stuck there, we couldn't get it down!"
"That amusement park is...?" Seira asked.
"It's Wonder Garden, so popular right now..." the woman looked down.
"Then, the very high roof is..." Seira had a sweatdrop on her headdress Side note: What if...
The girl cried out, "Wonder Castle's rooftop! Sister!" (no wonder Seira was frustrated, it's *very* high..)
"Did you tell the staff at the park?" Seira asked.
The woman said, "About this... They just said it's a little kid's doll... they told us to forget about it. That doll seems to be homemade, it's impossible to buy it at other places..."
The girl started crying, "And my cousin's coming next Sunday!"
"She really loves that doll... we can't just say it's lost." The woman said as she tried to calm her daughter down. "She'll never talk to us again..."
"Sunday..." Seira said to herself, "Not much time!" The woman and girl looked at her, "Huh?"
Seira smiled, "Please cheer up! God will, definitely help you...!"
Later, at St. Paulia Church...
"Sorry to disturb you..." Meimi said, "You called me here? Seira. Anything important?"
"When I call Meimi into this room, I always only have one thing." Seira turned to Meimi. "A certain thing I need St. Tail's help with. Only she can do this."
"I would like her to take back a doll. It has to be done before Sunday, quickly."
After school, somewhere near St. Paulia Academy ...
"All ladies and gentlemen..." A bunny holding balloons starting passing out fliers to everybody. "Please come!"
Asuka Jr. and his friends each got one, and Asuka was looking at his, "What's this?"
"Ah ah! It's the place the girls were talking about this morning." Asuka's friend pointed at Asuka's flier, "Yours even has writing on the back!"
Asuka Jr. turned his flier around as saw the note:
Tomorrow night I'm coming to take Wonder Garden's doll. St. Tail
Asuka's friend put his hands on Asuka's shoulder and read the message, "Hey! This is St. Tail's message!!"
"Darn it...! That rabbit...!" Asuka turned and ran back to where the rabbit was. "She's gone!"
"Hey, Wonder Garden's doll, what if it's..." Asuka's friend said.
"The ones from the electric moving clock?" Another of Asuka's friends asked. Side note: The ones the girls said.
The first boy said, "I heard that they're really expensive. It does seem right that it's on a Kaitou's list of things to steal."
The next morning at St. Paulia's...
"Good morning!" Meimi said to Ryoko.
Ryoko answered, "Morning! Meimi!"
"Haneoka!" Asuka Jr. called to Meimi.
Meimi blushed, "W-what?"
Asuka went up to her, "It's like this... yesterday you girls were talking about the amusement park..."
"Um.. uh..." Meimi thought of Sachiko saying, 'He asked me to go with him.'
"Is there a very special electric moving clock there?" Asuka asked.
'Wha... what if...' Meimi thought to herself.
"I heard you guys saying..." Asuka continued.
Meimi clasped her hands together and thought, 'What if he... wants to take me there!?' "Yes!!" she said.
"How much is that worth?" Asuka said with side note- the clock.
Meimi went, "HUH!?" with a sweatdrop on her head.
Asuka asked, "I heard that it's worth a lot of money, is it true?"
"I... I think it is..." Meimi mumbled.
"Why...? Why would she do something that bad...!?" Asuka clenched his fists together. Side note: Actually it's more like a side bubble, "Right now Asuka Jr.'s brain" and there's St. Tail labels stuck all over the top of his head. "Okay, I know now, nothing then!" he turned and walked away. "Bye!"
'What...' Meimi thought, 'What kinda attitude is that......!!' Side note: Idiot!
"I HATE HIM!!" she screamed.
At Wonder Garden...
"Ah ah...! What should we do?" The manager of the park said. "That big clock is custom made for us. It's the only one in the world, a treasure. Called 'The clock that brings fortune and happiness'... it's this amusement park's biggest advertisement. If it's stolen, it'll affect our business...! Please think of an idea! Asuka Jr...!"
Asuka Jr. looked up at the roof of Wonder Castle, "What's that balloon up there...?"
"Ah ah... seems like some kid's doll got stuck there with the balloon... but what does that got to do with it?" The manager replied.
"No, that's nothing." Asuka said, "I understand, manager, so... I have a request...!"
'Kaitou St. Tail,' he thought to himself, 'This time I must catch you...!'
At Meimi's house...
Haneoka Eimi knocked on Meimi's door, "I'm opening the door! Meimi!"
She opened the door holding some water on a tray, and... "Eh...?"
"What?" Gen'ichirou held a string of paper flags. Side note: Meimi, I have new magic.
Inside Meimi's room, beside her school uniform hanging on the wall, the windows were open with the curtains softly blowing around.
"Meimi's not here." Eimi said, "Did she go to buy some juice..."
Meimi narrates- "This is my dad and mom. As everyone can see, Dad is a magician."
A tear dropped from Eimi's eye, "I take the trouble of coming to give her this..."
"But, coming in and out at night from windows, no wonder she's your daughter!" Gen'ichirou smiled.
"She must have inherited it from me. She's getting more and more like me," Eimi laughed, side note: Hahaha!
Meimi narrating again- "Mom used to be... a Kaitou... a strange couple."
"She'll be back soon." Gen'ichirou said.
"Yes!" Eimi agreed.
Meimi narrating- "Actually Dad and Mom don't know... once it's night, their daughter..."
At St. Paulia Church...
"God... please forgive us..." Meimi and Seira both prayed.
Meimi held up her magician's hat, "One... Two..."
"Three...!!" St. Tail held up her hat with confetti and ribbon flying out.
Meimi narrating- "Transforms into Kaitou St. Tail!!"
"Then, I'm going now!" St. Tail turned to Seira.
Seira looked at Meimi, "Meimi! You have to be careful...!" They prayed together, "But wish God can... protect us..."
'You just wait! I'll get the doll back!' St. Tail thought to herself as she bounded off into the night.
Back at Wonder Garden...
'Strange, there's nobody here?' St. Tail wondered, standing on the rooftop of Wonder Castle.
'The balloon...! It's this one.' she grabbed the doll, and lights suddenly shined on her.
"So you did show up on the roof! St. Tail!!" Asuka Jr. shouted from the ground beside a spotlight with light everywhere and helicopters flying around. (!!) "I already know what you're going to do!"
St. Tail tried to cover her face as Asuka ordered the security guards to shine the light on her.
"How about that? Try to escape!!" Asuka Jr. yelled. Side note: Wahahaha haha! the words surrounding Asuka. "I'm going to go up there after you now!"
St. Tail raised her left arm in the air. "!" went Asuka and the manager.
"One..." she brought her left hand down, "Two..." she swinged her right hand down, forming an invisible circle in the air, Asuka Jr. and the manager turned pale, not knowing what to expect... "Three...!!" Bright light suddenly surrounded everyone as the lights on the rides, buildings, everything went on.
"Wha- what's this? There's not supposed to be light at night!?"
St. Tail winked, "Now, don't be so surprised over a little thing!" Side note: It's here......!
"One... Two..." St. Tail held her hand out to the Wonder Castle, "Three...!!" Hundreds of St. Tails burst out of the Wonder Castle's doors, laughing, dancing, bouncing, leaping.
"WAHHH...!" Asuka and the manager screamed.
"Asu... Asuka Jr.!!" The security guards shouted as the St. Tails rushed around them, "Which one do we catch!?"
Asuka grabbed the manager by his neck, "This amusement park has a St. Tail performance!?"
"O-o-of course not!" The manager said, scared of Asuka.
"Uh!" He turned to look at the St. Tails, "I can't find her...!"
"How about this? Don't you think it's interesting?" St. Tail's (the real one ^^) voice said, "This is St. Tail's big illusion show!"
St. Tail smiled as she ran along with the other St. Tails, "I'll just get away while things are a mess! Definitely no one can find me."
Asuka Jr. ran, looking around the crowds of St. Tails. St. Tail looked at him, and Asuka stopped.
"Definitely..." she saw Asuka running towards her, "not..." she trailed off as he came closer. She started running away.
"Don't think so little of me!" Asuka Jr. shouted, "No matter where you are... I'll always find you!!"
'Why?' St. Tail thought to herself, 'Why......!?' she jumped onto the ferris wheel.
Asuka jumped onto the roof of ferris wheel 'box' under St. Tail's. "It's dangerous!" The security guards shouted.
"Idiots, this is a good chance... how can I just let her go?" Asuka shouted back.
St. Tail clutched the doll and yelled at Asuka, "The doll is here! I'm taking it with me!"
"Uh..." he sees the girl's doll, "That's not the doll..."
St. Tail smiled at him, and thought, 'Then... if you asked me to come here with you, I will be very happy... but...'
"This is like a date!" St. Tail said, "I'm very happy!"
"Da..." Asuka turned completely red. "Uh!" he jumped onto St. Tail's ferris wheel box, "Don't play jokes!! Argh......!!"
When he got to the door of the 'box', streamers and confetti exploded in his face. Asuka looked in, and... the ferris wheel was empty.
"I'm serious..." He groaned, "How could you......" Side note: Next time I have to train more.
Back on the ground at Wonder Garden...
"Thank you, Asuka Jr." The manager said, "See, the big clock is fine! Not one doll was stolen, thanks to you. We really thank you! No wonder you're Detective Asuka's son!"
'Ah...' Asuka thought, 'So it was the doll on the roof...'
"Haha," Asuka said out loud, "I didn't think she would do that...."
"Huh?" asked the manager.
"Uh, nothing." Asuka Jr. smiled, "Nothing at all."
St. Tail, sitting on a rooftop, thought to herself, "If couples look at the clock they'll really receive happiness?" Side note: That's so good...
'My nights are also... filled with the fortune of happiness......'
