Kaitou Saint Tail - May 1997 Comic Fans, Chapter 14
"Christmas Comet"
"Kaitou St. Tail turns into Santa Claus, giving you a Merry Christmas!"
At the classroom of St. Paulia Academy...
"I heard that soon we'll be able to see... the Haley Comet," Asuka Jr. said, kinda chewing his pencil with the usual
group of Meimi, Seira, Sawatari, Rina, Ryoko, Kyoko, and that freckled guy that's Asuka's friend.
"Huh? What's that?" someone asked.
"That comet comes only every fifty years!" Asuka exclaimed.
Meimi clasped her hands together and asked Asuka, "It's so beautiful!! Is that coming on Christmas Eve?" Side note:
WOW!
"Well, you can't see it without a telescope anyways, you have to go to an observatory." Asuka Jr. answered.
Meimi, looking concerned, asked, "What if... the comet... crashes with the Earth?"
Seira looked confused, "This..."
"I guess everybody would fly away!" Ryoko said with a sweatdrop on her head.
"If that actually happened, what would you do?" Kyoko asked Ryoko back. (Aack their names sound sooo cute
together!! :P)
"First, I would take my precious things with me and run away!!" Ryoko said with a determined look in her eyes.
Kyoko looked at Ryoko, "Where would you GO...!?"
Meimi asked, "What precious thing?"
"Ah... this..." Ryoko trailed off.
The boys looked across the classroom at the girls, "Oh... they're talking about precious things."
"If it was me, it'd be my parents," a boy said.
"Mine would be fishing tools!" another boy smiled.
"Heh heh... mine would be a pillow! Without a pillow, I can't sleep!" the third boy laughed.
Sawatari brushed his hair back, "You guys should be ashamed!!"
One of the boys asked, "Well, then what's Sawatari's precious thing?"
Sawatari took Meimi's hands in his, "Come with me to escape to the end of the world!" while everybody was looking at
him as if he was crazy. (Wait he *IS* crazy!!!)
Asuka Jr. looked over at Sawatari, turning a little red, "What an IDIOT! The comet will definitely not change paths! So,
there's no possibility of it crashing!!"
Meimi looked at Asuka Jr. annoyedly, "We're saying 'If'! Idiot don't you know what it means! Idiot!!" she yelled.
"So you don't believe me!?" Asuka shouted back.
Rina interrupted, "Are you two friends? Or not? Can you please show that clearly?" (Note from me- actually it's not
'friends', more than friends but not quite 'boyfriend-girlfriend'... ^_~)
Meimi and Asuka Jr. both turned red and backed away from each other.
Meimi turned from Asuka, "How could anyone be friends with that kind of person!!"
Asuka turned away from Meimi, "Me either!!"
Meimi turned her head a little to look back at Asuka, 'I forgot to listen to his... what's Asuka Jr.'s most precious
thing...?' she thought.
'You want us to make things more clear...' Asuka thought to himself, and he thought of Meimi's reflection in Princess
Rosa's mirror. He stopped. 'About Haneoka... I don't know at all...'
At St. Paulia Church...
"The Haley Comet?" Seira asked.
There were a bunch of kids in front of her, "Yeah! It's coming around Christmastime, do you know?"
"I know."
"Sister!" one of the kids cried, "No matter what, we want to see the comet!!"
Seira clasped her hands together, "But, you can't see it with just your eyes..."
"We know!" another kid said, "That's why we went to the observatory, to ask for us to see the comet. They promised,
but now, they lied and said we can't go see it!"
The first kid said, "He said if this many people go, then it would distract them from their work, so they said we can't!"
"Um..." Seira trailed off.
"It's not fair," the second kid said. "We've waited for this for so long... if we miss this, it will be a very long time for the
comet to come again, right? Sister."
"Um..." Seira said, "Yes..."
The kids turned to leave, "So, we came to pray to the the Lord! We want to say to him, we don't want Christmas
presents, we only want to see the comet...!"
At the St. Paulia Church 'Screen Room'...
"Isn't there... any other way to see it?" Meimi asked, holding her school cap in her hands.
Seira said, "If... there's no telescope as big as the ones in the observatory, it seems to be impossible!"
"Really..." Meimi mumbled.
"Hey...! Seira, I..." Meimi said, "During Christmas I want the Kaitou to rest for awhile..." she turned and smiled at
Seira, "Then pretend to be Santa Claus. You think..." Side note: I can't?
Seira smiled, "I was... thinking of the same thing! Meimi."
Meimi grinned, "Then..."
"It's decided!!"
Outside, either walking to or from St. Paulia Academy... (probably to ^^;)
Asuka Jr. was watching with his two friends, who were talking noisily while Asuka walked ahead.
"Heh heh, that Sawatari seems to like Haneoka a lot." The boy in the suit (school uniform) said.
The boy with the scarf said, "Wonder how that happened so suddenly? That guy never approaches girls himself!" Side
note: Because he's so snobby...
Asuka turned and listened in on their conversation...
"Hey! Asuka Jr.!" both of them called to him.
"WHAT DOES IT GOT TO DO WITH ME...?!" Asuka shouted.
The two boys looked at each other, 'He's in a bad mood,' they both thought.
A voice said, "Hey! There's enemies coming here!!" and Asuka turned towards the voice.
"Everybody attack!" The kid (the one who was at the church) said, holding a snowball. "Throw it at him!!"
Asuka and the suit boy cried, "Waaaaaaah..." as they got hit in the face with snowballs.
"You bunch of brats!!" Asuka yelled, "What do you want with some normal citizens walking by!?" Snow was on his
head, melting and dripping on him, his uniform, and his books.
The kid pulled his eye down, stuck out his tongue, and made a ugly face, "Huh!! Adults are all liars!"
"Huh!" The second kid shouted madly, and threw another snowball at Asuka Jr.
Asuka dodged the snowball, and it hit the tree.
"Haha," Asuka held up his fingers in a 'V' gesture, "Can't hit me!"
Asuka's two friends were clapping, "Wow! Asuka dodged it!" Side note: Very rare!
The snow started falling out of the tree, and within seconds, Asuka Jr. was buried almost to his head by snow.
"He actually... kept his promise..." The kids exclaimed. Side note: We like this kind of adult. (Note from me: The 'he'
that set this up... isn't a he... ^_^)
A piece of paper fluttered down to Asuka Jr. "Huh!!" he shouted, and read it:
'Merry Christmas, Mr. Detective. On Christmas Eve I'm going to steal "Haley's Comet". St. Tail.'
"It's a St. Tail challenge note!!" The kids said. (See, St. Tail set it up!!! ^_^)
"Hey... how do you steal a comet?" Asuka's friend asked while the kids around them were shouting 'Lemme see!' and 'I
wanna see too...'
"Um! No matter what..." Asuka said, "Right...! That means she's going to steal the observatory's telescope!! Because
nearby here, this is the only way to see the comet! My guess will not be wrong," He smiled arrogantly.
Asuka's friends stared at him, "No matter what, that's still hard to do!" Side note: Hey! You're sweating!
"No," Asuka said, "No matter what, she can steal it..."
The kids whispered excitedly, "Did you hear that...!"
"If it's her..." Asuka Jr. thought of Meimi's reflection, and shook his head.
"If it's Kaitou Saint Tail..."
At St. Paulia Church...
"God..." Meimi held up her magician's hat, "Please pray that everything will be a success..."
"One! Two..." Ruby appeared out of the hat with her little ribbon,
"Three!!", with a puff of smoke, Meimi turned into St. Tail.
"Meimi! You have to hurry!" Seira said, "It's almost time for people to come here for the Christmas Eve gatherhing."
St. Tail, holding Ruby in her hand, "Um! Seira. You can take care of Ruby and the other things!"
Seira put her hands together, "Those kids, will be very happy...!"
St. Tail smiled, "Let me handle it!"
Seira prayed, "Please God... protect us that no unfortunate things will happen..." as St. Tail leaped from rooftop to
rooftop into the night.
At the space observatory...
St. Tail, hiding being a very high railing, looked down at the busy scientists. 'Wow... what a big telescope! Figures,
since it's a observatory..."
"Tonight we should see things very clearly," a astronomer (or should they be scientists? ^^;) said.
Another astronomer laughed, "Hahaha, right, those noisy kids won't be coming here."
The first astronomer said, "Something as important as this sky observation, if little kids come and disturb us, then that's
terrible."
'But, why does she want this telescope,' Asuka Jr. thought to himself with his arms crossed.
'To kids, the comet... is also a once fifty years important event!' St. Tail thought as she lifted her hat, 'Adults want to
keep it for themselves, the Lord will not allow this!!'
"One! Two..." wings and feathers fluttered out of the hat,
"Three!!" pigeons flew down towards the astronomers, causing a commotion as the papers were blown around and the
astronomers yelling, "Waah...!?"
"Where are these pigeons coming from...!!" an astronomer called out.
Another astronomer, trying to block himself, said furiously, "Who's playing tricks...!"
Asuka Jr. looked up at the railing, "She's come! Kaitou Saint Tail!!"
'How does she plan to steal...' Asuka thought, 'something that big!?'
Outside St. Paulia Church...
"Merry Christmas! Sister." a little kid said.
The sister smiled, holding a candle, "Merry Christmas! Have a good dream!" as the kid left. (She's actually not a
'normal' nun, she's the head/leader whatever...)
"This year's gathering has successfully ended," the sister said.
"Sister!" another nun said, "Where did Seira go?"
The leader sister turned to her, "Huh? She's not here!"
"Um... don't know where she is..."
Seira, dressed in a Santa suit complete with cap and Ruby on her head also wearing a cap, pulled her beard down and
smiled. 'Actually, I'm right outside...' she thought.
"Hey! Merry Christmas!" Seira said as she handed the children balloons.
The little kids smiled, "Thank you! Santa Claus!!"
Other kids rushed to her, "Ah! It's Santa!!" one said.
"Good! Everyone's going to get one!" another kid said.
Seira looked up at Ruby and thought, 'Ruby! Don't scratch and pop those balloons!'
'Ji!' chirped Ruby.
The little kids looked at their balloons,
"What's this?" one of them asked. "There's a card."
"Giving you the 'Haley's Comet' present, please come to the observatory."
"Wow..." one kid said.
The other kid pointed, "Let's go!!"
"Where are they all going?" asked the mothers.
"We'll be back soon! Mom!!" they ran off.
At the observatory...
"Wha... what happened?" Asuka Jr. yelled up, "Come down! Kaitou St. Tail!! If you don't come down, I'm going up
there!!" he started climbing up the stairs.
St. Tail thought, 'One! Two!' she held up her fingers in a 'two' position, 'Three!' and the screens where the astronomers
were suddenly changed pictures.
'Today I have to catch you,' Asuka thought, 'I have to find out the truth...!!'
"Bo... boss!!" an astronomer called (It's actually not boss, more like observatory owner), "Please come here and look
at the screen...!"
"What?" The boss said.
"The comet's shooting out fragments..." the first astronomer said. "It's... it's coming towards us at very high speeds!!"
The other astronomers looked shocked, as they asked, "Why didn't we see it earlier!?"
"I don't know!" the first one said frantically.
Asuka Jr. looked at the astronomers, "Fragments of the comet... is... is it something like meteorites?"
"No! Not that kind of thing!!" the boss said, "If it's a serious problem, it could make a huge hole on the earth!!"
"We have to inform the other people in the town to leave!! And it could be very dangerous here as well...!" the
astronomer said as he ran away.
The other astronomer, also running, "We have to run as far away as we can!!"
Asuka Jr. looked at St. Tail, who was still up at the railing.
'Everybody's escaped!' St. Tail thought, smiling. 'The illusion show on the screens worked!' she winked.
"Hey!" Asuka said, going up the stairs, "Listen! Stand there and don't move!!" (Like anyone would listen to that ^^;;;)
St. Tail looked at him, shocked, 'Huh!?' Side note: He's still here!?
"You... you're not escaping!? The fragments from the comet will fall down here!?" St. Tail cried out.
Asuka stopped at the top of the stairs, "... and then...?"
St. Tail stopped, "And then... um... what exactly are you thinking!?"
Asuka Jr. came closer towards her, "I'm thinking... what way to catch you!"
"And... any other things?" St. Tail said. She thought, 'Ah... feet... I can't move...'
St. Tail continued, "You're not worried what would happen if you died, or you should take your precious thing and
escaping...?"
Asuka stopped again, "My precious thing?"
St. Tail gripped the railing, trembling, "Right... right! Don't you have any?"
"No." Asuka said as he went towards her, "That kind of thing..."
"I'll think about it after I catch you...!!"
St. Tail closed her eyes as he reached out towards her hand... 'No...' she thought, 'No! Meimi!! I can't panic...!' she
threw her hat up and made banners, streamers, and confetti burst in front of Asuka Jr.
"I'm sorry! I was tricking you!!" St. Tail as she leaped away from Asuka, "The fragments from the comet aren't going
to fall down. The image everything was seeing was only my illusion... the real image recorded isn't moving...!"
Asuka Jr. looked at her with a sweatdrop on his head, "What are you saying...!?" Side note: Heyheyhey... with a
sweatdrop.
"The important thing is..." she smiled, "Call the little kids from outside the observatory in!!"
Asuka turned, "Outside...?" he turned back, "Uh... ah! Wait! Hey...!!" he called as she drifted away with her bouquet of
balloons. Side note: That's too sneaky! 'I'm defeated again...' he thought.
"That... that was so dangerous..." St. Tail said to herself, blushing. 'But, if I was "Haneoka Meimi",' she thought
looking up at the sky, 'He would never talk to me like this...'
Back at the observatory...
"Wow... wow...! We can see it... we can see it!" a kid shouted in a whole group of kids around the telescope. "It's the
comet!" shouted another.
A boy with short hair pointed, "It really has a tail!" he told Asuka Jr. (Hah, Asuka has to be baby-sitter here ^_^)
"Um! Incredible..." another kid said.
"Hey... what does that mean?" Asuka knelt down in front of him and a girl with shoulder-length hair with a hairband.
Side note: Explain!
The kid held up a finger (It was not the third one :), "Thank you!! We prayed to the Lord! We said we wished we
could see the comet on Christmas eve...!"
'!' Asuka thought.
The little kids gathered around Asuka Jr., "We thank the Lord...!"
"Did you ever ask Lord for anything?" the little girl asked. (She's cute!)
"Nothing at all..." Asuka Jr. said, "My wish is... the Lord herself..."
And then there's this picture of St. Tail smiling... (Okee, anyone not figure out what Asuka's talking about, he means St.
Tail ^^)
