Kaitou Saint Tail - April 1996 Comic Fans, Chapter 1
Kaitou Saint Tail Arrives!
"Awaaaaah! There's a thief...!!" someone cried as glass shattered. "Someone come! Come catch the thief!"
The thief, with a long ponytail, took the painting with a black-gloved hand...
"That's Kaitou St. Tail!" someone else said.
"Follow her long hair!!" the first voice said.
An man was moaning, "My painting, the one that I had to lie and trick for...!!"
The other guests were looking at him, "Eh?"
"No, no... I didn't say anything." The man covered his mouth while the other guests were looking suspiciously at him.
"Right, you can't do bad things," The ponytailed thief said, sitting on a tree branch, "No matter what... God can see through it!"
At St. Paulia Academy...
"Good morning! Meimi!" a girl with short hair waved to Haneoka Meimi.
Dressed in her school uniform, cap on her red hair, Meimi turned around, "Good morning!"
In class 2-A...
"Did you hear?" The short-haired girl Ryoko asked, "St. Tail appeared! I heard it was at the big house at the sixteenth district."
Meimi, wearing glasses and holding a book in her hands, asked, "What appeared, appeared... it's like talking about
some kind of spirit or monster..."
"Yeah!" The girl with short dark black-purple hair, Seira, replied.
A girl with light shoulder-length hair said, "But Meimi, Seira, no one has ever seen her real face!"
"The only thing we know is that she is a female with hair in a ponytail! Only this..." Ryoko said.
"And she has never failed!" A fourth girl exclaimed, "That delicate way of stealing! Sensitive and quick reflexes!"
"Punishing bad guys, so incredible...!!" Ryoko grinned, as Meimi looked over at them, chewing her pencil.
A voice said, "What... St. Tail! A thief is a thief." The voice was a black-haired boy, Asuka Daiki/Asuka Jr., and he continued, "This is going against God's wishes." Side note: You all... will get what you deserve.
"What! Asuka Jr., you just want to see her," the shoulder-length hair girl said.
Ryoko looked at Asuka with a mocking smile, "But, St. Tail doesn't care about YOU."
The two girls said with stars in their eyes and little hearts around them, "Because she's a mature female...!!" with a picture of a shadowed girl with a ponytail.
Asuka Jr. made a horrible face, "You are all idiots. That person's face probably looks like this."
Meimi slammed her hand down against her desk, "Asuka Jr., even though you're a policeman's son, you don't have to treat St. Tail like an enemy!"
"True, my father is a useless policeman, but I'm different," Asuka sank down a bit with Meimi looming over him with a mad expression on her face, but continued, "Kaitou St. Tail, will be caught by a... famous detective, like me!"
Asuka Jr. held up a 'V' sign with his fingers as Meimi bashed him on top of his head with a broom...
"Asuka Jr. is very smart..." one of the girls commented.
"Mm! Last time he helped the police solve a case!" Ryoko said, looking at Asuka and Meimi.
Meimi suddenly turned to Asuka Jr., "Then, why don't you tell us some of your 'famous' reasonings!"
"You know what, Haneoka, yesterday our English teacher flipped over his motorcycle when he was riding it, and injured his eye. Of course he was given a speeding ticket," Asuka Jr. said, with a side note: Heh heh! While his classmates were going, 'Hey you have a nosebleed! Hey!!' "And there's three more days until he gets his very little teacher's pay! From the worst way to look at this situation..." Asuka laughed insanely, "Next English class is a pop quiz!!" Side note: Mwaahahaha!
"Well, our English teacher's mood is at least going to be terrible!" Seira said while Meimi with a mad expression on her face said, "THIS is called reasoning..."
Meimi took out a pencil and notebook and went up to Asuka, "Then what's the quiz about?" Side note: She believes it...
"How am I supposed to know what English words he likes?" Asuka Jr. stuck his tongue out at Meimi.
"Don't stop me! Seira!!" Meimi said, trying to hit Asuka with the broom while Seira was dragging her back. Seira stopped, "Don't stop me..." Asuka and Meimi turned around, "That means you want to keep on fighting. That's what they said, sister," Seira pointed to Meimi and Asuka Jr.
"Um, yes, thank you Mimori Seira-san." The sister said, then yelled at them, "Haneoka Meimi-san, Asuka Daiki-san, go to the hallway to stand."
Meimi, holding her water bucket standing in the hallway, and Asuka Jr. balancing his water bucket on his head, both ignored each other.
"All the boys in my class are like this..." Meimi said grumpily.
"God!" Meimi held her hands in a praying position, with an innocent look and tears in her eyes, said, "Why aren't there any gentle boys near me!?"
"WELL THEN THAT'S TOO BAD FOR YOU!!" Asuka Jr. shouted, with a frustrated look on his face.
After school at the St. Paulia Church...
"Really, Seira's responsible for this too. How could she be so mean..." Meimi said as she was running to the church.
As she opened the church door, a little ponytailed girl came out with a doll, looked at Meimi, and smiled.
Inside the St. Paulia Church, Meimi asked the young-looking nun/sister, "Can we use the confessional?"
"Please." The young nun said.
In the confessional , Meimi clasped her hands together, "Hey! I was punished standing for twenty minutes!"
"Welcome, little Meimi!" The nun said with happy eyes.
Meimi leaned on the screen table and looked at the nun, "What of that 'Welcome you' stuff! The very unsympathetic practice nun Seira!"
"Everything is of God's will." Seira-the-nun did the cross thingy on her chest.
Meimi crossed her arms, "Hmph! Tricked."
"But, a very little girl came!" Meimi said.
"Even though this room is built on school grounds, anyone can come..." Seira replied.
"I'm not talking about that!!" Meimi complained, "I'm asking... why would a little girl need God's help? You should know! After school hearing people's confessions to sins is a practice nun's work!!"
Seira said, "That child's grandfather... is a jewel security guard. Once, he was in charge of a precious sapphire, the Blue Meteor..."
"I know! It's the one from that big house on Central Street!" Meimi exclaimed.
"But..." Seira continued, "The Blue Meteor that the person took to the guard... there were two of them."
Meimi sat there, looking surprised, "Why would that happen?"
Seira looked at Meimi, "Of course, there's only one real one, the other one is a fake the owner asked someone to make, to prevent thieves from stealing it. But..."
"The owner can't tell which one is real and which one is fake." Seira said.
"THIS kind of thing, how can God even help with it!!" Meimi shouted with a sweatdrop on her head.
"The person that the owner asked to pick the real one out, the guard, had no problem telling it apart, but... because he was greedy... he gave the fake jewel back to the owner." Seira said.
Seira closed her eyes and held her hands in a praying position, "Now he deeply regrets it, and wants to give the real Blue Meteor back to the owner... but he can't just return it, and that little girl couldn't stand to see her grandfather so upset, so she came here."
Meimi started wailing, "What a good little girl...!" Seira looked at Meimi with a sweatdrop on her head.
"That means, you could just switch the real and fake one... but, the real Blue Meteor..." Meimi said, still wiping tears from her eyes.
Seira unfolded a handkie, and inside was a blue sapphire. Meimi looked at Seira, shocked, "Se.. Seira... that's..."
"The real Blue Meteor." Seira smiled with happy eyes, side note: I asked the girl to bring it. "I also researched... about the owner's house already... now..." Seira leaned over the screen and smiled at Meimi, "Kaitou St. Tail, we need to ask for her help, right?" Side note: Heh heh!
At Meimi's house...
"I'm back!" Meimi said as she went into her the living room.
Her dad, Haneoka Gen'ichirou, was cooking as he asked, "Back already? Meimi!" he held the pan he was cooking up to Meimi, "Dinner's almost done!" he smiled as the pan had roses and confetti exploding out of it.
"Meimi, talk some sense into him, he spread it all ove the house," Meimi's mom, Haneoka Eimi, said.
Gen'ichirou said, "That's okay! It's a new magic, pretty?"
Meimi narrating- "My dad is a magician."
"Um, Dad's hand is just like a sorcerer's. I always love to see it!" Meimi smiled, taking her cap off.
"Then, Meimi, you'll inherit my job!?" Gen'ichirou grinned.
Eimi hugged Meimi and stuck out her tongue at Gen'ichirou, "No!! Meimi has to inherit her mom's job."
"You're kidding!!" Gen'ichirou exclaimed, "Your work is that kinda thing!?" (Note: Eimi used to be a Kaitou...)
Eimi put her hands on her hips, "Aiya, you fell in love at first sight. So..."
Meimi quickly ran away from them, 'Better escape...' she stuck her tongue out a little.
Meimi narrates- "Dad, Mom," The clock rang 9 pm, "Please don't worry!" Meimi opens her windows, and climbs down a rope. "Meimi now already... inherited both of your... jobs." she arrived at the front doors of St. Paulia Church, with Seira still inside, praying.
"God! This isn't any secret, please forgive me!" Meimi opened both of the doors.
"One... Two..."
"THREE...!!" Meimi turned into Kaitou Saint Tail with a burst of confetti.
St. Tail held up her hand in a 'V' sign as Seira exclaimed, "Wow...! Meimi! That's incredible!" Side note: How did you transform...!
Seira handed St. Tail the sapphire and a small bottle of perfume, "Okay, switch the two jewels! And take this..."
"You made weird perfume again..." St. Tail said as she took the two items.
Seira laughed, "I'm sure it'll be useful." Side note: Mimori family secret.
The two of them prayed, "But wish that we could... receive God's protection..."
At the owner's house...
"I'm waiting for your protection!" the owner said, "Come come, over here." he led the security guards through a doorway, with the (fake) Blue Meteor in a glass case.
"That's the Blue Meteor."
The guards crowded around the case, "So this is the sapphire!"
The owner told them, "Ah... don't go near it..."
An alarm sounded, and a cage came down around the security guards.
Asuka Jr. held up a finger lecturing them, "In this kind of place, alarm systems are very common!" Side note: Even though it's very basic.
"Asuka Jr.," the guards said, "Even though you're saying this..."
St. Tail, standing outside a window, looked down at the group of people...
"You're in the cage too!" the guards finished.
"I just escaped too late!!" Asuka said with a sweatdrop on his head.
'Asuka Jr.!!' St. Tail thought, 'Why is he...'
The owner pressed the release button, "You have to calm down," he lectured Asuka, "I know that you want to catch the Kaitou, and I know of your abilities... that's why I asked you over to help guard... St. Tail will definitely want to come and steal it, that criminal...!"
"Why are you so sure?" Asuka asked, "Did you get that jewel by cheating people...?"
"Wha... what are you saying!?" the owner exclaimed.
Asuka apologized, "Sorry! And she is definitely a thief. As far as I know, all the things she's stolen has had a good reason... please don't just accuse her as a criminal...!"
St. Tail thought, 'That guy, at school...' she thinks of him saying, "Going against God's wishes". 'Strange guy...!' "Who cares about that kinda guy!" She held up a magician's top hat, "Come!" she closed her eyes, with the starry night in the background. "Stars in the sky, please applaud!"
"St. Tail's performance has begun!" She brought her hands down to the hat, and black shadowed men with 'V' hand gestures popped out of her hat.
The guards see one of the shadowed men, "There's one!"
And another shadow, "The windows have shadows!! She's here! It's Kaitou St. Tail!!" the guard shouted as they ran outside.
"Idiots, don't leave this room, they're fake people..." Asuka said crossly, and turned around. "Oh no!" he exclaimed as one of the glass windows shattered.
'Kaitou... St. Tail...!' Asuka Jr. thought, looking at St. Tail with her bangs covering her eyes, a sneaky smile on her face, and cards fanned out in each hand. She threw the cards toward the ceiling at the alarm, and it exploded.
Asuka stopped, 'The alarm system...!'
St. Tail jumped down beside the glass case, "Don't even think about stealing it!!" Asuka yelled. "That long ponytail..."
St. Tail picked up the Blue Meteor gently as Asuka ran towards her, "I have to catch you!" as he reached for her ponytail.
The ponytail disappeared when Asuka grabbed it, "Bye, famous detective!" St. Tail said. Side note: That was an illusion!
"I... I fell for it..." Asuka said, humiliated.
'Huh?' St. Tail was about to leave, and then looked at the things in her hands, the fake sapphire on the left hand, and the real Blue Meteor in a bag on the right. 'Ah! I forgot to put back the real sapphire!!' Side note: Meimi, you idiot!
'I have to hurry back...' St. Tail thought. Side note: Nervous...
St. Tail jumped off the edge of the windowsill, 'Huh!?' she thought to herself as she looked down, 'Oh no...!'
"Mo... move...!!" St. Tail cried as she fell on top of Asuka Jr.
St. Tail turned red as she held onto Asuka Jr.'s shoulders, 'Don't... don't look at me...!!' she took out her perfume and sprayed him in the face with it.
'Uh... how could this happen... I actually...' He reached a hand out at the shadow of the ponytailed thief, 'caught... St. Tail...' and he fainted.
St. Tail smiled, relieved, and looked at the perfume, 'Good thing there was something to save me... thank you, Seira...' she held a finger to her lips, and dropped the sapphire into Asuka Jr.'s hand.
'That... is a present for you!' St. Tail smiled as she left. Side note: It's real!
"Asuka Jr.!!" someone called, "Please wake up!!"
Asuka opened his eyes, and the owner took his hands to thank him, "Eh?" went Asuka.
"Thank you!! You protected my sapphire!!" the owner said.
"Huh?" Asuka Jr. said, looking at the sapphire in his hand.
The owner clasped his hands together, "You are my hero. Thank you!!"
'I have to calm down.' Asuka thought to himself as the owner and security guards were dancing around shouting 'Yay! Yay!'
'Kaitou St. Tail... no matter how you look at it...'
'Is a girl that's about the same age as me...!!'
Asuka looked at his hand, 'I touched her...'
"Why's your face all red?" One of the security guards asked Asuka Jr.
"Eh?" Asuka waved his hands around, "Eh?"
At St. Paulia Academy...
"Good morning!" a girl said to Meimi, and Meimi returned the greeting.
Asuka Jr. looked at Meimi, 'Kaitou St. Tail...'
Meimi whistled, as Asuka thought, 'Next time I definitely will...'
'Catch you...!' There's this picture of the two of them passing each other with Asuka looking determined and Meimi smiling.
